I am creating a custom module using Chris Hammonds templates but when I install the module it does not show as Portable, Searchable, or Upgradable. I haven't changed any code that I am aware of that pertains to this functionality.

When I used a copy of the template without touching anything at all, it shows fine with all of the mentioned functionality.

I've compared the .dnn manifest files and everything else I can think of but I have to be missing something that prevents this module from being installed correctly.

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

This issue seems to be occurring during the two different ways of installation. Incrementing version upgrades, or Repair installs. It appears that the SupportedFeatures field in the DesktopModules table is being updated to 0 instead of 7 when doing a repair install. When I increment the version of the module then the SupportedFeatures is updated correctly with a 7. Could be a possible DNN bug???

A little more minor difference is the LastModifiedByUserID is also being updated differently during the two different installs.

Currently I'm still on 8.0.3 trying to get everything updated to move to 9! I can have a version of 9 to test with possibly next week or two, unless someone gets a chance to test 9 before me!

IMO you should at least upgrade to 8.0.4, which has a number of issues fixed from 8.0.3
