Hi,

I'm in Host/Host Settings and after I change the Host URL and Update, I proceed to Restart Application (which I presume I must?) and the screen responds with Error On Page in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.

Can anyone advise what this means and what corrective action is required?

Regards, Barry T.

there should not be a need to restart the application, but you need to reload the page.

Hi Sebastian,

okay, but then under what circumstances would you use the Restart Application - what is it's purpose and what does it do?

"Restart" is used, if your application "hangs" or runs out of memory due to a development issue.
Use "Clear Cache", if you modified data directly in the SQL database.

Hi Sebastian,

Thank you for your clear and meaningful explanation.

Sebastian, all I have to work on regarding DNN and how it works is a Super User’s Manual (Vers 5.2) supplied by Ellen Trieu from DNN’s marketing department. However, it’s a user’s manual and I believe what I am really after is a systems manual or something similar which explains in detail what DNN is all about and how it is structured. Does such a manual or documentation exist and if so how do I go about getting this?

For instance, at the moment I have been asked to take a copy of a live DNN system that we have running and set it up after changing a few banners and jpgs to make the system a vanilla version (i.e. not displaying the system name and data and such). So we will end up with a live system and a development system and be able to access each one independently via a browser.

Regards, Barry T.
