Running DNN version 08.00.03

I recently noticed that my 404 page not found errors no longer work the way they should. If the page requested is a child page then instead of throwing the 404 error DNN just bubbles the navigation to the parent page.

I don't know if this is related or not but I recently changed my config file to handle the "advanced" url re-write.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a clean unmolested install of dnndev.me (version 9.1.1) on my local machine and the same process is occurring. Any 404 error on child pages get sent to the parent page instead of showing the 404 page. Only the main menu items (parent pages) will actually throw a 404 error.
