Hi,

I've installed DNN on a Win10ENT VM.

Everything works fine and the site is up and running...until it's not.

I have done this a number of times and have become very frustrated at having to start all over again every day.

Yesterday, I re-installed DNN yet again and it worked fine. Today I get an error that the site can't connect to the db.

No one but myself has access to this machine and the last time anything was done to either the VM or the main machine was when I finished up using my DNN site  yesterday. The VM was never turned off.

Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this?

Thanks,
Bob

you would need to analyze the log files. Did you enable app recycle after several minutes of inactivity or a t specific times?
Has SQL Server been stopped for any reason?

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for the reply.

I don't know how to enable app recycling but I will learn that and check it just in case.

SQL Server was not stopped.

I will check the logs (didn't think of that) and see what they have to say. Hopefully I'll get this figured out.

Thanks again,

Bob

Bob,
App Recycle is specified in IIS App Pool Settings (in SSMS, see the link on the right hand side).
Please check Windows Server Logs (Application) and DNN log files in /portals/_default/logs folder.

The same thing happened again today, before I read your most recent post.
I have since changed the apppool regular time interval from 1740 (default) to 0
I shall see what happens tomorrow.

The logs showed that the web server was updated. I'm assuming this was iis and that this was the cause of the problem?

Thanks for your help Sebastian
