Hi Guys,

I know there is a question here but since nothing is moving and also the fix in there doesn't work for me I just open up the new question for it.

So the problem is that when I log in as a host user the persona bar is not showing up. The space on the left hand side is just empty (E.g. it has what seems to be the placeholder for the bar but no content. I assume that some css is firing but nothing is filled in.)

My setup is that I have all the code in one folder under the C drive. If is spin up the site from there the persona bar is missing, but when I move the same code from there into the inet\wwwroot folder it magically starts working. So I assume it has something to do with the file permission. I then tried a lot of different options but could not get it working. Maybe someone out there had the same problem and could point me in the right direction.

Here is a screen shot of the permissions:

Thanks in advance,
Nils

You need to make sure the the AppPool account is in a role that has permissions to the appropriate directory.  On my local machine I usually just use the Network Service account.  Not recommended for production, but shouldn't pose a security risk on your local machine.

Thanks for your answer.

I've changed the identity of the AppPool to NetworkService however its still the same.

Also gave Everyone Full Control on the website folder .... this is just weird.

For everyone who still has this issue:

The problem I had was that I had a folder "C:\#My Source\Website" where the site was located under. For what ever reason as soon as I removed the "#" it started working. My guess is that the API routing of either ASP.NET or the DNN addition on top of that can not handle the # in the file name. I would suggest that might be a bug but not a 100%.

I can just confirm that you should avoid using special characters in names for IIS website folders.
