I'm looking to change servers, which has SQL 2016, but would rather stay on 7.4.2 for the time being. Is it not tested or won't work?

John,

these are the sources I normally use when looking for requirements. I read this exactly in the way I wrote above. It means that SQL Server 2016 is not supported for DNN versions below 8.0.4, which does not say that it does not work.

Afaik the most changes in SQL Server 2016 are not in the core database engine, but more addressing BI tools.

Richard is right: Why not just try it? Set up a testing environment and see if it works for your site. Chances are good, I guess.

BTW: I have two sites running DNN 7.4.2 on SQL Server 2016, and they work with no problems so far. But I cannot say something about all the extensions, and especially the third party extensions you are using.

Happy DNNing!
Michael
