I recently upgraded a dnn 7 site and did the recommended replacement of deprecated modules and removed solpart references from the containers etc etc, the site publicly is working great but when logged in as admin or host we cannot :

  • Logout again using the logout button:
  • Go into Edit Mode- the page refreshes but nothing happens. (we can edit if we check the "Stay in Edit Mode" checkbox, but it needs toggling when visiting other pages)
  • Cannot open pages in Page management admin tool as page just hangs ( I have tried copying admin page permissions  down to children  but again it just hangs)

These are the main issues and it is down to a particular skin level which has been working well since 2011. The skin in question has a lot of modifications/customisation and  I do not want to create a new one so any advice as to where and what.... would be appreciated.

Cheers in advance

You most likely have a JS error caused by the cleanup, blocking parts of the Edit interface.
Visit the site with FF, press F12 and check out the console for JS errors.

no real issues reported in the console, certainly nothing that makes a difference.

Actually, some 407 proxy authentication required errors on some scripts when "stay in edit mode"  is checked but is that an issue?

You were right, it was a particular function in a js script that was causing the issue. Took a bit of tracking down but many thanks for the heads up.
