Is there a way to set permissions on a file directly?
I set up a folder in the File Management, with permissions set that only a certain user can browse, view, write to the folder. However, when place a file inside the folder, it's still visible to all users (even when not logged in) . How do I set up a folder so that only a certain User or Group can view the files inside?
Thanks
Tom

there are no file permissions in DNN, only folder permissions.
if you need to restrict access to files, you need to place them in folders created as "secure/filesystem"

Thanks again Sebastian,

I tried to achieve this by using permissions on the folder, but that doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to change an existing folder type from Standard to Secure Or do I just need to make a new folder for this purpose?
Thanks again
Tom

I tried creating a secure folder but it seems like it doesn't give any one access to files inside, regardless of the permissions settings. I' d like to restrict access to only some groups/ users, just like I can do so with a page. How would I do that?
Thanks
Tom

Tom,
files in secure folders are delivered by DNN using the LinkClick.aspx handler, which checks view permission for the folder.
You need to use proper download URL.
