With DNN 9+, I may have 2, 3 or 4 sibling portals with custom content within each one. In the event that I would like to to have one of these sibling portals now become the default portal for the whole site, is there a DNN switch or coding process that allows me to do that?

Thanks for any insight!

"Portals" in DNN are sites. So, there's really not a concept of a default portal. All are equal, and each has it's own URL.

There is the concept of parent and child portals. In this situation, all of the portals share a URL, so you would have:

http://mysite.com (the parent)
http://mysite.com/child1 (a child)
http://mysite.com/child2 (another child)

Is this what you want to do?

Correct and very close. And I apologize for lack of clarity, Lets say this was my current setup in DNN

www.my-site/
www.my-site/parentStage
www.my-site/child1
www.my-site/child1Stage

I want to
(1) switch www.my-site/parentStage to www.my-site/
(2) switch www.my-site/child1Stage to www.my-site/child1

i basically want my staging portals to be a place where I can work on things "coming soon". And once they are ready, go ahead and make the portal public to the world with the production URLs (i.e. www.my-site/ and www.my-site/child1)

I would then make take the portals that were public and make them my new staging portals.

Is this possible in DNN?

If I understand, I think that you can do what you need to do just by changing the portal aliases.

This will probably be a little tricky as you will get errors if two sites have the same portal alias (url). You'll have to change one to an intermediate while you change the other one.

Also, take a look at the portalalias table so that you can get a more direct view of how this is handled.

Understood and thanks for the head start on what to try. I'll give it some testing. Much appreciated.
