In DNN 9.02

When using Page Settings for a page and trying to set the URL to something other than what DNN derives from the page name, the URL keeps automatically changing back and therefor breaking the page links in the menu. This results in a 404.  Then, trying to fix it leads to wonky scenarios.  Thus, right now, based on the way it works (poorly!) you shouldn't attempt to set it something else.

This is a real bug! And needs to be fixed.

Did clean Platform 9.0.2 installation

Created a new page and saved it with Anonymous user view permissions

Edited the page and changed the URL and the page name

Saved the changes

I then hit the site as an Anonymous user and loaded the page

It loaded with the new URL and if I go back and edit the same page the new URL is present

Example:

Page URL was /Groupies

Changed it to /BackwardsCompat/Groupies saved the page and re-loaded the Anonymous User - URL changed for Anon User

Then changed it again to /BackwardsCompat/expats saved the page and re-loaded the Anonymous User - URL changed for Anon User

At no time when I re-edited the page was the URL not matching what I had entered and saved previously

Thanks for your response!

Let me help clarify the scenario...

The page settings I was using is as follows:

I have the following parent and child page:

Page Level  Page Name  Page Title  Page URL
 0  Personal  Personal Insurance  /Personal-Insurance
1  Homeowners Insurance  Homeowners Insurance  /Personal-Insurance/Homeowners

In this scenario, after it is saved, I've had a couple different scenarios play out.

1. When you hover over the menu, the URL is /Personal/Homeowners-Insurance and not what it was saved as. In this case, clicking the menu has resulted in a broken page, or a broken page that then redirects to correct page.  Then, editing the page settings, the url is changed from what it was saved as to the one shown in the hover.

2. I can't get to the 'Homeowners Insurance' child. Clicking on the child in the menu always just takes me to the parent '/Personal-Insurance' page, even though the URL in the browser is correct.  The only way to edit this settings for this page is to use the 'Pages' module and click the gear.  Then when i do, the URL for the page in the page settings has been changed to /Personal/Homeowners-Insurance.  At one point, the only way I could actually view and edit the child page was to change the Page Title and Page URL to NOT use a dash at all.

3. Viewing the page works correctly.  But, if you edit the page settings again, change the Title and leave the URL set to '/Personal-Insurance/Homeowners' and save the settings, It will actually change the URL to '/Personal/Homeowners-Insurance'

Since your scenario worked, it must be something to do with the dashes '-' being in the URL.

I hope that helps explain where I'm seeing the bug.
