Hi,

I have made a copy of our working DNN 8.0.4 site on a new server for development.

For some reason, the development site keeps showing Login Popup whenever trying to add a module on a page. This is obviously when I am already logged in as Super User. Since the staging and production sites don't have this problem this makes me think its a configuration issue rather than any problem with code which is an exact copy.

We are using IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 Server with .Net Framework 4.6.2 installed. Dev site is not using SSL so I have SSLEnabled, SSLEnforced and IsSecure parameters all turned off.

I have already checked some posts regarding similar issue back in DNN 6 which was resolved by changing Control Panel to RibbonBar and adding a line in web.config for FormsAuthentication. No luck for me.

I'll be grateful for any help / suggestions.

Regards
Arif Shah

Perhaps there could be more info in DNN logs, they are in "~\Portals\_default\Logs\" folder, more info: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/log4n...
Another thing to check are the Java Script errors, Chrome has it in console, more info: https://developer.chrome.com/devtools...
possible that some of the xhr requests, required to add new module, are not authorized, this will be shown in Chrome console.

Thanks so much for your suggestions.

Chrome console did give me additional errors...401 (unauthorised) on DesktopModules/internalservices/API/controlbar/AddModule. I have seen other posts regarding this issue with ContorlBar.

This very long thread here http://www.dnnsoftware.com/forums/for...

...and this wiki here http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/probl...

I have tried all solutions. I am not able to install the update as my system is already up to date. Can't switch to RIBBONBAR as it only shows one module in the list...adding that module adds Extensions list on the page. Tried updating web.config with but no difference.

It's hard to diagnose this issue without access to the website. Probably all WebAPI requests that are pointed to the methods with attribute [ValidateAntiForgeryToken] [DnnAuthorize], will throw 401 http code. Possible that you get the same authorization error message if you will try switch DNN into 'Edit Mode'.
Does host user have .DOTNETNUKE cookie ? It's contains current user identity.
