Hi

Do any of the DNN versions support OWIN?

I want to build a module that uses DotVVM which supports OWIN :

https://www.dotvvm.com/

But I don't know if this is possible or not. I think it's possible to use other authentication providers but OWIN?

Can anyone help?

cheers
Gus

No, DNN neXt was supposed to be created for .Net Core, however, development has been terminated last year.

Hi Gus,

It's possible to develop DNN module that has a OWIN pipeline. I created it in following way:
- add to the web.config, under node 'appSettings' following line: <add key="owin:AutomaticAppStartup" value="true" />
- create 'Startup' class with OWIN startup attribute: [assembly: Microsoft.Owin.OwinStartup(typeof(MyModuleNamespace.Startup))]

Thanks Barry, that's great!

I noticed that the DNNChat module uses OWIN so realised it must be possible but I couldn't work out the steps required to make it work.

Will have a go.

Hi

I installed the dnnChat module to see what it does and I noticed that it doesn't require that web.config setting.

Can we assume that OWIN startup discovery is enabled by default and that setting is only useful if you want to turn off automatic pipeline?
<code><add key="owin:AutomaticAppStartup " value="false" /></code>
