I am trying to get TWO instances of DNN 7 to run in an IIS 8 instance. I am using host headers to do this for all of the sites except one. The one not using a host header is the other DNN site. is there an issue with having two DNN instances on one IP in IIS with only one of them using a Host Header?

if the one site using IP address is defined as Default site, this should be fine

It is. I thought OK, but after spinning wheels on it for too long, I had to ask. I can switch the site to no host header and run off the raw IP using nonstandard port, but as soon as I move it use host headers, I get some odd routing.

if you switch domain address, you need to make sure, the new host header value is added as DNN site Alias in admin > Site Settings.

You can also update the aliases via the PortalAliases table in the database. I f ou make a change there, you will want to "recycle" the app to clear the cache fully.

select * from portalalias

update portalalias

set httpalias ='something.com' --whatever your host header/domain is
where httpalias = '192.168.1.1' -whatever your IP is
