Hi gang, I've got a somewhat old install (6.2.5) of DNN I inherited from another company that has been running fine for years, and recently stopped loading when accessing it from the base url. The page set as the homepage still loads fine if you navigate there manually, along with any other page on the site, but just typing the domain in a browser gets stuck in a permanent redirect loop.

I've tried every fix I can think of or find online, and the host says that nothing has changed on their part.

Does anyone have any kind of idea of something to check on for this?

http://www.rohrscarpetmechanics.com/ is the domain that won't come up, yet both http://www.rohrscarpetmechanics.com/Default.aspx and http://www.rohrscarpetmechanics.com/Homepage.aspx come up without issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

please check IIS website settings and make sure, default.aspx is in the list of default documents.

Thanks for the quick reply, it certainly seems like IIS settings and I had the host look into it. This is what they said:

"IIS is set to use default.aspx first. I just made the change for that, and it is still not correcting the redirect.
The issue is that there is a redirect for that page that is causing the redirect to send back to the source domain, not to the destination page.

IIS has no redirects in place.  I don't believe there are any ASP settings to adjust that would affect home page or default document redirects."

They're pretty adamant about it not being a server setting, and being about the DNN install.

Maybe they aren't totally full of it.

I tried the web.config from another, working site and was able to pull up a test/blank Default.aspx page while browsing to the root. Using the same web.config but changing the database info to the site, I once again got the redirect loop.

I assume at this point it is something in the database causing the issue, but using the web.config with this database and a test Default.aspx page that doesn't even load anything from it/DNN brings me back to the redirect error.

Any idea what in the database could be hijacking it without anything even calling the database? I'm much more at home with PHP, MySQL, and Apache and may not realize everything that is going on to properly diagnose this.

Thanks

please check entries in portalAlias table in the database and make sure, all items marked as "primary" are pointing to valid domain addresses, associated with the current website.
