This new persona bar appears to be so full of errors/bugs it is more trouble than it's worth (to me) and that's without the fact my pages keeps jigging left and right all the time.

Is there any way to turn it off and revert to the old admin system? I can't work with this! Any editing in web.config for example that will make it go away and return the old "working" admin system?

Paul,

I did not find one (which does not mean it does not exist, but I did not find it). I expected that on a place similar to the old Control Panel setting (under Host :: Host Settiings :: Other Settings), but I could not find anything like that.

I agree with you that the Persona Bar is not optimal at the moment, but on the other hand we had things like that before (think of the first dynmic content localization steps in DNN 5.5, or when Microsoft introduced the Ribbon Bars instead of the menus). DNN 9 is 9.0.0 now, so let's give it a chance, make proposals to make it better and stay on DNN 8 for production sites as long as the Persona Bar is not satisfying enough (even if that means that there is a switch to return to the old administration interface :-)). I think it is a step in the right direction, but it needs some additions, renaming and regrouping the options to make it more intuitive (eg I would expect "Extensions" under "Manage", not under "Settings") and useful for non-tech people. I am sure, time will come...

Happy DNNing!
Michael

You can still go to your admin and host root directories to find the links to the older admin menu system. It's not in the header menu but it will look familiar.

You just have to type in the url directly to your browser.

/admin or /host

That was one of my ideas as well, but there I could only see "Extensions" and "File Management" (/admin) or "File Management" (/host). I also cannot see an Admin page in the Page Management (Content :: Pages), and the ability to change to Host pages (as I had in the Page Management in DNN <= 8).

AhHa, replies. So "Forum Notifications" doesn't work either then! :-)
Thanks for your efforts guys (above) but I've given up. This is nothing more than a beta (alpha?) test.
Add Page: Blue line at the top followed by a blank white dialog box! Have to use "Add Multiple Pages" to add a single page.
Can't find Restart App or Clear Cache which was under Tools but where now? I don't know.
Edit Mode can't be locked on, that I can find.
Flyout Menus often fly out empty but are populated on maybe the second or third attempt.
Left side positioning leading to web page jigging left and right all the time because the new CP is so slow.WHY? Never seen ANYONE complain about it being at the top where it makes complete sense, or perhaps giving US the option to choose where it goes. Can't see a true view of the page layout unless you logout as Super User!
More clicks NOT less clicks as advertised.
No way to "Opt Out" and revert to old "WORKING" CP.
default.css being used is still in the 7.0.0 folder. I guess the default.css in the 8.0.0 folder isn't being used. No 9.0.0 folder at all.
"Logout" & "Edit" at the top under "Settings" with Firebug on, at the bottom of the CP strip on their own with Firebug off. No problem with CP at the top of the page.
Frankly, DNN This is a mess.
Is this what you get if you pay for DNN? I'm going to check out the competition, they can't all be as bad as this.
I'm not going to even try to see if this validates at all but I can guess. I'm not wasting any more time on it.

Then it just gets worse: I thought I'd edit a css or two.
A new DNN 9.0 single portal install with ONE extra module and ONE extra skin added. THREE HUNDRED AND FORTY SIX css files!!! WOW 4.24 MB
REALLY??? You are joking DNN! I nearly sprayed coffee all over my monitor from my nose when that appeared. DNN, THAT could kill someone.
ENOUGH, I'm done with this. Obviously another rushed, unchecked, untested release. Upgrade to 9.0 due when 10 is launched.
All found by one person in less than an hour. How much effort do DNN put in?
I'm so glad I don't need to use this CMS very often or have paid thousands of $$$ for Evoq.
Must admit many of my observations above could well be down to me and my fault. I try not to use DNN any more than I have to. Gave up when Evoq was released.
