Hi!

My DNN 7.4 database has increased to 2.1 GB. After running the maintenance script from S. Leupold it happily went down to 700 MB. However, it is big for a portal that hardly contains any contents than files in download repositories.

What could be taking space and how can I find out about it.

Sorry that I sound desperate but I change hosting provider and the new one does not allow a restore of more than 250 MB.

All help is appreciated!

I would submit a backup from the db if this would be of any help.

Have a nice day!

Gunther

Start by looking at the size of the various tables in your database. That should point you in the direction of the things that are taking up the most space.

If you are storing files in the database, you might consider moving them to the file system.

Hi, I found the bad guy myself!

there is a log of all housekeeping events in the database.
It is in table Schedule history and increased the DB with about 90%

A simple 'Truncate table ScheduleHistory' in the sql function of DNN made my day!

Thanks for the hint, Craig! It just came in when I updated the post.
Keep up the good work!

TurboOptimizeDNNSettings804.sql (incuded in my TurboDNN package) adjusts scheduler settings to prevent growth of these table (same for eventlog and sitelog)
