You can change the name of a page, the old page name is saved in the table TabUrls as 301 redirect to the new page name. So far, so good.

But the routines make a distinction between UPPER and lower case page names. Now a circular lookup will occur if you have e.g. a page named DNn and rename that to DNN or dnn, since IIS does not make a difference in UPPER of lower case urls.

Anybody an idea why this is implemented this way?

And a solution?

In the early days we used IfinityURLmaster that could enforce all urls to be lower case.

Ernst Peter the setting to force lower case URLs is still possible to use - it just needs to be added into the portal settings table.  There are actually two settings - one to change the urls to lower case, and another to redirect mixed/upper case to lower case.  That part works exactly the same, but you do have to be careful that you don't create a redirect loop.

The actual settings names are visible in the FriendlyUrlSettings.cs file in the source code and just need to be added to the portal settings table and the cache refreshed.

An easier option would be installing X3 Url Management module (from, which provides a UI for all AUM settings.
