Hi Nukers,

I have ActiveForums 5.2.2 installed on a site, and the "Enable Friendly URLs:" option doesn't appear to work.

The "Enable Friendly URLs:" option is set to "Yes" in the Settings of the Active Forums, and the web.config has the following.

In

[modules runallmanagedmodulesforallrequests="true"]
...
[add precondition="managedHandler" type="DotNetNuke.Modules.ActiveForums.ForumsReWriter, DotNetNuke.Modules.ActiveForums" name="ForumsReWriter"]

In
[httpmodules]
...
[add type="DotNetNuke.Modules.ActiveForums.ForumsReWriter, DotNetNuke.Modules.ActiveForums" name="ForumsReWriter"]

The URLs for any link clicked within the forums is still the same - that is, something like

http://www.helpmasterpro.com/Community/Discussion-Board/aft/460.aspx

Is there something else I need to check? This site has been upgraded since about version 3 of DNN.

Thanks,
Rod

what url format are you using for DNN? (default.aspx?tabid=12, /tabid/12/default.aspx, /home/default.aspx, /home.aspx or /home ?)

You can submit issues on their Github page. You might get better support over there.

Hi Sebastian,

Using iFinity URL Master v 2.8.2 with .aspx extension.

Also, I had to manually update the web.config to put those references in there, based on some other web.config that I found in my search. It's possible that there is another section/setting missing from it.

Also, I'll log an issue, if I can figure out that this is an issue, and not just a setting somewhere.

Thanks.
Rod

OK, maybe I've misunderstood what this feature does - perhaps someone can clarify for me.

I was under the impression that "Friendly URLs" setting in Active Forums would turn the URL of a post from something like

ww.helpmasterpro.com/Community/Discussion-Board/aft/460.aspx

into

ww.helpmasterpro.com/Community/Discussion-Board/aft/Email-Manager-Workflow-patterns-and-pattern-of-the-week.aspx

Is my assumption correct? I used to use PageBlaster to re-write the URL of Active Forums to do exactly this, but PB was caused other issues so it's now gone.

It seems the "Friendly URL" setting on Active Forums is doing something though. It's turning the "Unanswered Not Read My Topics Active Topics" links at the top of the forum into different URLs that seem friendly, but result in a 404 error.

Seems like this feature may be broken, useless, or a bit of both.

Does anyone have this working and have an example I could look at?

Thanks,
Rod
