Hello

I'm trying to get the DNN AD Module setup on my production server. It went pretty well on my tests inside my dev environment but that is a member of our domain.

Our production server is a windows 2008 r2 machine. It is NOT a member of the domain. And it is trying to auth through a RODC.

We have joined other servers through the RODC so it is confirmed to be working.

 

After trying different settings through the morning I've been getting issues of it not finding any AD / LDAP servers, and also an error of not being able to create part of the LDAP objects.
We have tried different configurations in the module setup, but nothing gave any results. Could someone help shed some clarity on a possible answer?

Sort of an update:
some more details trying to wrap around this issue.

 

Through packet captures I have been able to see the DNN AD component connect, login and successfully query LDAP and DNS. It even pulls the AD Site information for the domain controller it is connecting to.

However, for some reason that I cannot understand it then attempts to query for the domain controller <1C> via Netbios Name Service. I do not understand this behavior as only one domain controller in a domain can hold that role via the PDC emulator, and that domain controller will never be in the DMZ!

Also, it says it failed LDAP and Global Catalog connectivity, when I see it working? But what troubles me even more is that the web page comes back and says it failed before some of the LDAP & DNS requests are made????

It appears the code has determined the local domain controller via DNS & LDAP, it has also determined the AD Site for the domain controller it is connected to, and it should know that based on its IP (hey! The first three octets match!) that it is in the same AD Site……

In short, everything appears to be functioning and correct at this time. All other services which connect to this DC have been and continue to work without issue. We have also joined servers to the domain through this DC without issue. Without knowing why the code is making an NBNS request for <1c> records (which will never work) I am not sure what else I can do!

 

Can anyone help further?
