Non-tech here trying to figure out how to display an MP4 file hosted on S3 on my 5.6.3 site and can't figure out how to get this flying. I am sick of YouTubes commercials and think that they are shooting themselves in the foot

Try using the dnn media player module - its on the dnn forge and codeplex  =   http://dnnmedia.codeplex.com/.

But for what its worth - youtube pays for its existence thru advertising - for that you get a free highly advanced cross platform media tool that can play consistently on every possible web device.

On S3 you are going to potentially wind up getting a fee for your downloads - and need to work with third party players and tools  - that may NOT work everywhere and on all devices.
