We have a customer who wants to incoporate fillable pdfs into a dot net solution. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether this is plausible or not ?

It depends on what you are looking to do with them, if you simply want to serve them, you are set to go with either the Documents Module or the Repository.  If you want to embed a "viewer" into the page, and have them view it inside the browser at all times, that will be more complex.

Adding to Mitch's reply...

An Iframe could be handy for displaying a PDF within the DNN skin but I'd recommend popping the PDF up in a new window.

If you want to force users to download the PDF (instead of opening within the browser) then look at the Documents module -- specifically the added querysting parameter for the "Download" text link which forces a file download even for registered MIME types.

Also, if you're not setting up fillable PDF forms to be "submitted" via email then you'll need to be aware of certain serious limitations for users to "save" a filled-out form or even to "post" a response.  See this thread.
