Mike, I agree about ituitiveness, but this is not the base of control panel and administration is built on. All the menu items are just modules based on technical constraints. If we want an intuitive structure, we would need sth like

Adminsistration

  • Design
  • Content & Navigation
  • Files and Links
  • Languages
  • Search & URL Redirection
  • Marketing, Banners and Search Engines
  • Registration, &Membership (Users & Roles)
  • Services (Scheduler, SQL. Lists)
  • Extensions
  • Support (Dashboard, ...)
  • Websites and Site Settings

But I sure, we agree - this is far out of scope.

I'm glad we agree about it being more intuitive.  I'm not like we are asking for a complete rework.  Seriously, how hard would it be to add a simple menu item with hyperlink to the Page Management with a security check to only be visible if the current user is allowed to see the page?

3) hm, I didn't succeed in getting the hover effect, sorry

Interesting. When I hover over items in Host and Admin menus, I get an "bookmark" link that allows me to add that item to the Bookmark tab. You don't get that?

After reviewing the site, I noticed now the "add bookmark" icon - previously I was ignoring it for being just a visual gimmick. It doesn't seem to work in IE9 (JS error "console not found) and I don't really see, how it should speed up selection if you have to
1. open menu
2. switch tab
3. hit item
but maybe I am too much focused on productivity.

regarding 7) I might have mis-explained. There had been concepts from other Core Team members to allow each module package to contain templates, which should show up in the module selection instead of definitions. Consider Form and List module -which could add items like "Contact Form", "Feedback Form", "Cooking Reciepts", "Image Gallery"... which get logically grouped by "Forms" (together with DNN Feedback module), "Lists", "Galleries" etc.

I agree on the usefulness factor.  It's kind of neat, but I am not sure its really all that useful.

OK... but as long as there are multiple definitions, it would nice if there was a way to instantiate a single definition without instantiating all of them.
