A few months ago I published a request for help on Community Exchange. Here is the situation. We make extensive use of Security Role Groups in the modules we publish. As an example I will have a Manager Role Group and a Learner Role Group. Each group has security roles in it. If I create a Social Group called Learners, DNN correctly creates a Social Role called Learners. If I then use the Security Roles feature to edit that new Role and change the Role type to "Both" then everything is great. I can allow users who have been granted that role access to items on that site because it is a security role. They can use the Social Group called Learners just fine. As long as the role is a member of the "Global Roles" Group.
If I change the Security Role Group from "Global Roles" to any other Security Role Group then the Social Group disappears. This means that Social Groups only work if the Social Group Role that is created is a member of the Global Roles Group. This is hugely limiting and defeats the whole purpose of having Role Groups.
When I previously asked for assistance here I was told that this must be a bug and I should file a bug on the Gemini Bug Tracker. I did that. http://support.dnnsoftware.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=22181&PROJID=2
I was told that this was not a bug. I asked again and I was hoping this could be fixed in 6.2.2, 6.2.3 and 6.2.4 but is still exists. I would like to know if anybody has a fix or a reasonable work around for this issue.
