CTO and co-founder Shaun Walker to play key role in defining international open standards for web experience management

San Mateo, Calif. – January 31, 2012 – DotNetNuke Corp. the global leader in adaptive web software that can be quickly and affordably leveraged to keep a business’ online presence relevant and effective, today announced that it is sponsoring and joining the Web Experience Management Interoperability (WEMI) Technical Committee, formed by the OASIS standards consortium. The WEMI Committee will be tasked with defining a simple domain model for delivering aggregated content into a total Web experience. When complete, WEMI’s domain model and abstract feature set will constitute an international open standard for Web Content Management and Web Experience Management systems. Co-founder and CTO Shaun Walker will represent DotNetNuke Corporation on the technical committee.

Beyond the domain model and the features set, the committee will also specify a default binding as a lightweight, resource-oriented, HTTP-based protocol that will be focused on ease of consumption from today’s web browsers, as well as server integration technologies. Based on the evolution of WEB and WCM into the mobile space, the WEMI committee will include a particular focus on small processing and network overhead.

“Businesses everywhere are challenged with the explosion of web content and the demand by their customers, partners and employees to engage in multiple channels,” stated Mr. Walker. “We are excited to be part of the effort to create the next generation of open interoperability standards that will simplify how businesses can adapt quickly and demonstrate greater agility in the future.”

DotNetNuke will join representatives from more than 20 other organizations on the committee, including Adobe, Ektron, SDL, and SiteCore. Once the WEMI committee has delivered OASIS standard, it will be maintained via minor ongoing revisions to clarify ambiguities, inconsistencies and errors. Issues against any standards delivered will be tracked and processed periodically.
