Not to worry, I finally got it to work after copying your OPML and gradually adding my own Urls one by one. Many thanks for your example!

Hi there!

Just a quick question!

I am able to view the feeds ok, but what I want is to limit them so that only some characters of each feed appear, as otherwise the page/container get quite huge

... Is that possible?

I am trying to get this to work without success. Can anyone spot anything? I tried both using the link URL/File and as text option.

Justin,

Just tried this OPML in my test v040505 site.  As far as I can see, the issue with using it as 'Custom OPML text' is the length and formatting.  It's been a bit since I've looked at the source, but I do remember there being a very strict definition of the format and length of the content in the OPML text used for it.  I shortened it a bit, and took out some header info, and such, and it does work.  Here's what I cut and pasted:

 <outline text="ManageSmarter.com" type="none" category="Tab">
 <outline text="From the Editor" type="none" category="Section">
  <outline text="Editors Picks" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Edit-Picks" />
  <outline text="Book Store" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Bookstore" />
 </outline>
 <outline text="Sales" type="none" category="Section">
  <outline text="Top Stories" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Top-Sales-News" />
  <outline text="Strategy, Training, Technology" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Sales-News" />
 </outline>
  <outline text="Marketing" type="none" category="Section">
  <outline text="Top Stories" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Top-Marketing-News" />
  <outline text="Strategy, Technology, Communications" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Marketing-News" />
  </outline>
  <outline text="Management" type="none" category="Section">
  <outline text="Top Stories" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Top-Management-News" />
  <outline text="Strategy, Compensation, Motivation" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Management-News" />
  </outline>
  <outline text="Incentives" type="none" category="Section">
  <outline text="Top Stories" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Top-Incentives-News" />
  <outline text="Strategy, Technology, Research" type="rss" category="Category/@@3000px" xmlUrl="http://feeds.feedburner.com/Managesmarter-Incentives-News" />
  </outline>
  </outline>

I've got some more troubleshooting on using it as a 'Custome URL/File' option, so bear with me a bit.  One thing you see when you cut and paste, using the text is it does get truncated when it's over the length limit, and then you get the default OPML kicking in.  Shortening it up as I did above, allows you to check basic formatting of the outline elements at least.

More on the issue later...

Cheers
