New Community Website

Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

The Community Blog is a personal opinion of community members and by no means the official standpoint of DNN Corp or DNN Platform. This is a place to express personal thoughts about DNNPlatform, the community and its ecosystem. Do you have useful information that you would like to share with the DNN Community in a featured article or blog? If so, please contact .

The use of the Community Blog is covered by our Community Blog Guidelines - please read before commenting or posting.

DNN Digest - November 2018

Editor's Note

As we head into fall, the DNN Community continues to thrive. The DNN TAG recently had the long term planning meeting and it was a timely meeting as some of Microsoft’s recent announcements factored into the discussion and strategic plans for DNN platform. It’s great to see the passionate debate and discussion among community members about the future of DNN.

Speaking of the future of DNN, did you know that the roadmap for DNN is publicly available? The DNN Platform Roadmap resides in the community area of the website and is a great place to get a glimpse of both the short term and long term plans for DNN. The roadmap is being actively maintained and November will see a lot of work being done on DNN 9.3.0 with the code-freeze date targeting 11/23. Keep an eye on the roadmap page to stay in the loop!

One area where we’ve seen an awesome display of open source community contributions is in the core modules development team! They continue to impress with their consistency and dedication, updating what used to be known as the “core” DNN modules. These modules are used on a lot of DNN sites and it’s great to see them being actively maintained and updated. Thanks to Daniel Valadas, Ernst Peter Tamminga, and the Core Modules team for their continued efforts in this area. The community is impressed with and appreciates your contributions!

The core modules development team inspires others to get involved and contribute. Did you know that you can get contribute to DNN simply by posting your thoughts on issues? The community can greatly benefit from everyone’s perspective and we have several issues marked with the tag “Request for Comments” which means we need your feedback! Journey on over to the DNN Platform issues tab on GitHub and share your thoughts on any issue(s) you like.

And lastly, did you realize that last month’s DNN Digest was the 1 year anniversary of the newsletter? I post past editions of DNN Digest in the community section of the site and this newsletter started last year in October. It’s hard to believe it’s been one year already. I hope you feel the newsletter adds value for you. Please let me know if there is anything you would like to see more or less of in the DNN Digest.

Do you remember DNN Hangout? DNN Awareness Ecosystem Advisory Group leader Will Strohl has revived the DNN Hangout and has kicked off the series with the first meeting featuring co-host Ralph Williams and DNN MVP and open source enthusiast David Poindexter! It’s really great to see DNN Hangout back in action. Kudos to Will for making this happen. See the replay of the first Hangout and get relevant links in Will’s blog about the meeting.

Have you ever wondered if you could help out and make DNN better? Testing a release candidate is one way you can contribute and it only takes a few clicks, no code involved! David Poindexter posted a great blog titled “Simple 10-Step Testing for DNN Platform Release Candidates” outlining the ways anyone can help test a Release Candidate.
