I'm not using the site log data for anything. Actually, I didn't even know about its existence until now that I'm running into these issue and you guys mentioned it.

How do I turn off the sitelog data? I checked under Host Settings and I only get the option to store sitelog data on the database or file system as pictured below:

Each of my portals has the Site Log History (days) setting set to 365. Should I change this to 0? Picture below:

Would running "truncate table sitelog" from the host/sql page timeout with the same error due to the huge number of records on that table? I'm guessing it will take a few minutes to clear that table. Would it be better to run "truncate" through SQL Management Studio instead? Is that possible?

So you have the "host" settings off, that turns it off for any NEW portals, but the existing ones need updated, set 365 to 0.

It won't matter where you run truncate, it will fly, it basically ditches everything in that table, quickly.

That worked! After turning off site log history for all the portals and truncating the sitelog table, I tried to delete the Portal again and it worked. I didn't get the error message and the portal got deleted. Thanks so much for your help!

if you want to clear everything from sitelog table, use "TRUNCATE TABLE SiteLog".
if you just want to delete items for a single website, use "DELETE FROM SiteLog WHERE PortalID = 7" (or whatever the PortalID is).
