Thanks Timo: The trouble is that those actually break bookstrap layouts because grid columns can't be empty.

Charles: maybe you're right. I think I'll get the main template exactly how I want it and then make 1, 2 and 3 column versions.

Hope all's well,

Mike

Actually... I just realized that this is another case whether default.css is a problem. It's putting in "Width: 0;" for the DNNEmptyPane - which should almost certainly be left to the skin.css file. Because bootstrap uses dynamic sizes, I can't easily overwrite it. I mostly want this so that if somebody uses the wrong skin or some circumstances make that skin have an empty column, it won't break everything.

I know it would be a big change, but it would great with DNN 8 if there could be an effort to remove every single directive from default.css that isn't strictly required or optionally called by the designer. So, dnnPrimaryAction is OK because I have to put that class on something. But, all the general directives (tag-level styles, non-optional things in DNN, etc) should all be removed and left to skin designers.

Those are my two cents... Thanks,

Mike

What about using wrapping divs for layout with a pane inside it (also div) & with display:block, also for the empty panes?

 I agree.
For now you can obviously set the width to auto in your skin.css or unload default.css using our stylehelper https://stylehelper.codeplex.com/

Thanks, Timo.

Your idea of placing the panes inside separate divs for the structure worked well - that's what I've done for now.

Hope all's well,

Mike
