I think Community Voice is a very good initiative. But let's face it, many of these ideas will hardly get looked at and very few will ever get implemented.
The reason is simple. DNN Corp doesn't have the resources to deal with so many small things and they're focused on their own agenda - the big things which are important too.
As a module developer I'm working in DNN library code every day to understand how things work. I notice bugs or enhancements every here and there. And I've learnt a long time ago to close an eye. I've tried submitting some code a few times on some obscure bug reporting system and it took months before it got looked at. The last one I've submitted more than a month ago, it was a fix involving 2 lines of code that 'I've also provided and it's still open (https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/browse/DNN-27195). So I have to always resort to hacks and patches to "fix" these issues. This has been bugging me for years.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to fix it myself in 2 minutes, commit it to GitHub and make a pull request to the DNN project? And folks ad DNN would just review it and merge it. Now that would make my day! So instead of taking months it would take days for fixes to get into the build? Now imagine thousands of developers doing this and picture DNN sky rocketing.
The major problem about DNN has always been stability. I think moving to GitHub would also be a very good strategic decision to externalize bug fixes and small enhancements to the open source community. That would save a lot of time for folks at DNN to focus on the big things that make DNN great.
