it would be helpful to get details about the error.

This solved our problems with the DNN WebAPI also. Thanks Tshwanelo Tladi!

DNN:

How come there is zero logging about these errors in the log4net log even with the log level turned up to maximum? Would have saved us days of error searching if we had just had some better info from the log than:

2016-09-19 16:56:48,329 [DEVELOPMENT][Thread:42][WARN] DotNetNuke.Entities.Tabs.TabController - Invalid tabId -1 of portal 0
2016-09-19 16:56:48,332 [DEVELOPMENT][Thread:42][WARN] DotNetNuke.Web.Api.StandardTabAndModuleInfoProvider - The specified moniker () is not defined in the system

The following is in the admin documentation. Perhaps it would have helped.

(Optional) Developers: Enable additional logging for advanced debugging, testing, or troubleshooting.
  1. Access the DotNetNuke.log4net.config file.
  2. In your DotNetNuke.log4net.config file, add the following logger lines after the </root> closing tag.

        <!-- The following is required to troubleshoot provider registration issues. -->
        <logger name="DotNetNuke.Web.Api.Auth">
            <level value="TRACE" />
        </logger>
        <!-- The following is required to troubleshoot failing Web API calls. -->
        <logger name="DotNetNuke.Dnn.AuthServices.Jwt">
            <level value="TRACE" />
        </logger>
