the dnn sitemap provider solution is woefully inadequate for my needs. I noticed that I have 3 providers - core, blog, and events. do these providers all write to the same xml file? in order to substitute my own file - which includes all of my product - I would need to disable all of these providers - correct? then I can put my own file in place without worrying about another process overwriting it?

DNN sitemap is created dynamically by DNN system, using the providers.
if you want to exclude blogs or events, you may disable these providers.
If you want to use your custom Sitemap, create a sitemap.xml file and submit to google, bing and yahoo instead of sitemap.aspx.
