Hey Guys,

Just a quick question on a module I'm developing. It's built off the same idea for implementing the Task Manager module from tutorials. I need to allow photo/exe upload in the edit control for the module and once submit is hit those should be stored and tied together with rest of data for the Task that will all be displayed when brought back to view control.

I just need some advice on what's the best way to implement this option. Right now I'm trying out the FilePickerUploader which is grand for uploading the files while in Edit (and entering rest of details for the task).  But then when I hit submit, I don't know how to read the right files back from database when populating my View with each Task.

Thanks,

Kevin.

you usually would store the fileID and use a SQL view (your table left join vw_files) for your view, which includes file path.

My Main issue is tracking the correct file ID. So when User is trying to add a task they can enter name, assigned user etc. But then when uploading the file using FilePickerUploader that throws a database entry in that I don't have control of right now. I want to have access to the file ID of uploaded file when I hit submit and store the rest of task data. Again just not sure how to pick the right file ID/get it when the file is uploaded during task creation.

I'd check DNN Documents module (http://dnndocuments.codeplex.com) as a sample, which does the same.
