 How do I recover a site with this error message when the site loads "Home/def/ErrorMessage"

HR, this will vary. Can you look into the EventLog table in the database and see if you can get any more detailed error messages?

if you are on DNN before 7.4.0, check eventlog table, in DNN 7.4.0 check vw_eventlog.
Important is stack trace and inner stack trace.
