I have just finished developing my basic production website and during this process I noticed the System Languages appear not to be up-to-date with today's terms and phrases in development of websites.

DNN is a Web Application and content management system and I was disappointed I had to see terms like modules. portals, child portals, site and pages still being used throughout the DNN System Languages. Is it not time to change these and other phrases to terms that make it more marketable as a Web App!

As I am selling child and parent portals I find it much easier to market them as Web Apps, as I believe this is much more customer friendly. Who wants to build a child or parent portal these days and add modules? I think my clients would prefer to build Web Apps and add other apps to their application.

With this in mind,  I think the DNN Community Edition needs to keep itself as a market leader by adopting changes to it's language files. There are many Web App development platforms available, all which are competing with DNN. For me to compete with these I had to ask myself: Would my customers want. to build a portal or a Web App? The choice was clear to me so I had to edit all my language files so I can offer my customers the ability to build their own Web Apps.

Surface language of DNN has replaced Portal by Site, Tab by Page, Skin by Theme and Module by App - the last one not fully implemented yet.
Under the surface, DNN still uses the original terms, this is marketing only.

Yes you are right it is just a marketing thing.

I was commenting basically that while I was developing my DNN as a subscription "build your own WebApp" destination I still had to make too many changes in my opinion to the language files to reflect my DNN installation marketing plan.
