I've created a module that makes child portals and it is displaying this error.

The module is installed on a new site.  So I'm sure its expecting to see some sort of default file.  The template we created on our development site was uploaded but it did not solve the error.

Which file(s) will satisfy it?

Thanks!

Mike

I'm not sure your error made it into the forum post?

I just realized that you put your error in the title of the post. It wasn't exact, so it took a few minutes to track it down, but it appears to be an error that occurs when you don't have any skin (ASCX) files available to choose from in your site. Look in your ~\_default\Skins\ folder and any other folder you might have selected in there, and make sure there are skin files to be found. There needs to be at least one .ascx file in there.

Will,

Here is the error:

 Here is the directory.  I copied one skin file to the ~/_default/skins/ path.  The Metro Skin is the  skin we're using and it does contain .ascx files:

I don't think it's a missing skin file.  I copied the template creating code from DNN Source so it could be that DNN just thinks there is an error of some sort.  I'm searching the VS solution for the text 'Your site template File Is Missing And Must be Uploaded To The Site'  and could not find it there.  Then I realized I'm setting up a fresh DNN install in test.  My module comes from a Dev solution I created it in.  That's from an existing Dev DNN site.

Dropping the module from the dev DNN site into the new site brings this up.  So there is a resource file someplace where the above text lives.  The test site is on a server with Visual studio installed so I'll be able to locate it and find out where my code is triggering it.

This being said ... if you come up with any ideas based on this input let me know.

Thanks!

Paydirt!  Found the key by the text, finally.  Here's the C# Code that triggering it:

        void BindTemplates()
        {
            var templates = TestablePortalController.Instance.GetAvailablePortalTemplates();

            foreach (var template in templates)
            {
                if (template.Name == Localization.GetString("PortalTemplateName.Text", LocalResourceFile))
                {
                    var item = CreateListItem(template);
                    cboTemplate.AddItem(item.Text, item.Value);
                    var ourTemplate = TestablePortalController.Instance.GetPortalTemplate(template.Name, Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture.Name);
                }
            }

            if (cboTemplate.Items.Count == 0)
            {
                DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.AddModuleMessage(this, "", Localization.GetString("PortalMissing", LocalResourceFile),
                                                ModuleMessage.ModuleMessageType.RedError);
                cmdCreateSite.Enabled = false;
            }
        }

I have pushed a template file up but apparently DNN doesn't like what it sees. :)  But I've found where to start looking at least.

Does this give you any ideas?  There are definitely items for the cboTemplate box to be loaded with but somehow it isn't seeing them.

This is DNN code revised in my module.  I'd have to dig for the original code file name, sorry I don't have it to hand.
