Hi,

I have a table that looks somehow like

Name Type NULL? Remarks
ID int NOT NULL Primary Key
ModuleID int NOT NULL Foreign Key to Modules table
Name nvarchar(50) NOT NULL

I created a unique index over the ModuleID and Name fields, as this should be unique. Now I need two methods to get a single record, one by the ID field, the other by ModuleID and Name.

Info class:

   [TableName("MyTable")]
   [PrimaryKey("ID", AutoIncrement=true)]
   [Scope("ModuleID")]
   [Cacheable("MyTable", CacheItemPriority.Normal, 20)]
   public class MyInfo
   {
      public int ID { get; set; }
      public int ModuleID { get; set; }
      public string Name { get; set; }
      // etc.
   }

Controller class:

   public MyInfo Get(int id)
   {
      MyInfo something;
      using (IDataContext ctx = DataContext.Instance())
      {
         var rep = ctx.GetRepository();
         something = rep.GetById(id);
      }
      return something;
   }

As it is quite easy to retrieve a record by the method using the primary key, how can this be achieved for the second use case (ModuleID, Name)?

Happy DNNing!

I solved it in the meantime by doing the following:

   public MyInfo Get(int moduleID, string name)
   {
      IEnumerable<myInfo> something;
      using (IDataContext ctx = DataContext.Instance())
      {
         var rep = ctx.GetRepository<myinfo>();
         something = rep.Find("WHERE ModuleID = @0 AND Name = @1", new object[] { moduleID, name });
      }
      // Can only be one or no record as there is a unique index on ModuleID + Name
      return something.FirstOrDefault();
   }

I just thought there might be a more elegant or simpler way. Any ideas?

Happy DNNing!
Michael

AFAIK, PetaPoco does not support specific use of indexes, i.e. you would use Find, like with any other criteria and SQLServer creates the most suitable query plan.
