the site i am doing needs space for vertical banners to go on the sides. but the layout mode does not give me an option to put this stuff on the empty space there, it is just a ton of useless padding.

is there any way to edit this?

you Need to modify the Skin applied to your site and add another pane to it. You may edit the Skin.ascx file with any text Editor and just add the necessary div with Option runat ="Server"

Hi Thomas,

The skin files are found here:

/Portals/< portalName >/Skins/< skinName>/skin.ascx

You'll first need to find out what skin your portal is using though, you can do this by navigating to here:

Admin > Site Setting > Basic Settings > Appearence then look for the Site Skin.

For more information about skinning and theme creation you can have a look here, look for the section "Design (Skinning)"

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Geoff.
