I have developed a module. That is for uploading images and displaying like a gallery. So there are so many settings in the settings menu with image uploading controls, drop-down lists check boxes etc. I already have another database table to save and retrieve the data for my custom module.

Can I use DFL module (DNN Forms and Lists) to build that form for my custom module settings form and get those data back in that custom gallery module to display? It is an image gallery module and we are thinking to DFL module to use in the same page of the custom module instead of a form within the module.

Do you think if this as a best practice? Is this possible to do? can we use DFL module as a settings page for another module? I really appreciate if you can advise me for this.

Y Ma,

in my eyes you can. Either you write your own module that queries the FnL tables - which is quite simple when you have found out how it works. More or less you have a table containing the columns (UserDefinedFields), the rows (UserDefinedRows) and the values in the cells (UserDefinedData) and need a cross tab query to get the results.

The other way could be to define an XSLT transformation that displays the gallery, so you would not need to code your own module.

Happy DNNing!
