Today I moved source control for DNNEvents from (TFS) CodePlex to GitHub in the general DNN Community area on GitHub. For more background information on this decision: read my blog in the community blog area.

Source code control for DNNEvents can be found in this GitHub repository: github.com/DNNCommunity/DNN.Events.

Distribution on CodePlex

Distribution of the install packages, documentation and issue handling will remain on CodePlex, so you will find the end results in the familiar location. But I (we) will maintain and improve the source code via GitHub.

Getting your version of the source is now a standard Git process: Fork & Clone! And if you start improving the module, don't forget to produce pull requests, DNN is Open Source!

thanks Ernst-Peter, i'll hopefully get a chance to contribute some changes to one of the projects soon. I see you've kept the issues on codeplex, perhaps I could suggest using github instead. This means that you can list items you'd like worked on, and when someone contributes a pull request they can reference the issue (I like how https://github.com/ActiveForums/Activ... does this)

Tnx Cathal, good suggestion.

I did not move the issues yet, people are used to put them on CP and there are quiet a lot still in the list. I will have a better look and take advantage of the experiences of others.

Latest news

The distribution of new releases of Events has also been moved to GitHub, CodePlex is just there for old versions. GitHub is the place to go!

Hi E-P,

I don't want to appear critical but I am concerned about the apparent abandonment of issues raised on CodePlex. I reported an issue 15th December  https://dnnevents.codeplex.com/workitem/25977 - this is a very bad issue for me and is causing severe grief to the customer.  Unfortunately I fell ill shortly after raising it so was unable to chase progress. and am only just back on board.

Now I see no sign of this being transferred over to the GitHub issues and  I also note that release 6.2.2 which was recently announced shows no sign in the release notes of fixing the problem. What's more it is said to be the final release which will work on DNN 7. This apparently leaves me with no prospect of getting a fix since migrating the site in question to DNN will not be possible (it uses a custom membership provider which will not work on DNN 8).

Please can you comment and advise my prospects for ever receiving a fix that will be usable on the problem site? Do I need to search for a replacement commercial calendar module (which will be a shame as I like DNN Events)?

Regards,

Graham
