I'm upgrading a module for newer versions of DNN and I find that GetRolesByUser is now obsolete. Unfortunately, the warning message doesn't tell me what replaced it. I ultimately need the users roles, but because this is a scheduler I won't have the userinfo to rely on. What my scheduler is doing is going through all of the site's users to email them things.

All I have is the userid and the portalid for the user, so how can I get the user's roles from that or should I be using an alternative method?

AFAIK getRolesByUserID has been planned, but not yet been implemented. This should be fixed in 7.3.2

I used GetUserRoles(PortalId, oUserInfo.Username, "") just like that and worked.

Dim mUserRoles As New DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController
Dim txtUserRoles As String = ""
' Creating a string with all Roles
For Each txtRol As UserRoleInfo In mUserRoles.GetUserRoles(PortalId, oUserInfo.Username, "")
txtUserRoles += txtRol.RoleName.ToString() + ", "
Next
' Checking for the no presence of a given Role within the string
If txtUserRoles.IndexOf("Gerente") = -1 Then
' Doing stuff if this user is not a "Gerente"
frvwPolizaEncabezado.Visible = False
pnelClave.Visible = True
End If
