We've been testing DNN's Login IP Filters (in 7.2.1) and haven't been able to find a way to allow ONLY a specified IP range and disallow all others. We were able to deny a specified IP address/range (but even then, only for host user, not for admin user).

To deny an IP range isn't useful for us. What we need is to be able to allow only users from within our network, by specifying an IP range and denying all others. We'd like to deny all logins outside this range. How can we do this? We tried using IP addresses/ranges and asterisks etc, and couldn't find a way to just allow our specified range and deny all others. And even when the deny did work, it still allowed  admin to login, and only prevented host.

Can you help us know how to set up the request filter to do what we need? I've looked at the documentation but still need help.

Maybe this kind of restriction is available through IIS7, but I haven't found it yet.

I need to keep the website pages public, just restrict the login/admin areas, and guard against attacks. Now seeing an increase of Login Failures - attempts to log in to site with various usernames. Several per hour.

Asked all admin users to strengthen their passwords.

Is there a way to restrict access to the admin folder in DNN? Would that be a good way to approach this? Or to the Login page itself? Through IIS7 or DNN?

Since DNN pages are not physical files (are created of the fly) I'm not sure how to restrict access to a page/group of pages.

It would be nice to allow only users inside our local network to get to the login page(s) and admin areas/functions. Still can't figure out how to achieve this.

Is there anyone out there who knows how to utilize the Login IP filters function in DNN 7.1.2 and can advise?

Again, what I need is to disable Login to our site so that only users from within a specified IP address range (ie within our network) can log in to our website. So far, I haven't been able to figure out how to specify that in Login IP filters.

the manual ( ) - here's the relevant page from the online version

Note: login IP filters have to be enabled first ( ) and only apply to admin/host users - if you want it to apply to all users then a solution such as IIS request filtering is a better option
