Hello,
I have been using the regular dnn skin object since the beginning, although I do not understand how it works. What I know is that it throws a bunch of urls that get created and indexed and force us to control them using robots.txt, as a minimum. I noticed that a several webmasters implement a login page and get away from the more polluting pop-up version.
Basically each page generates its own pagename?returnurl=/'....', not good from the SEO standpoint.

I wonder if there is an alternative login skin object or a solution to this issue. What's your opinion? How do you go about that, besides the robots.txt (which many do not use for this, to start with this website)?

Thanks

Franco

you can disable pop-up's at a granular level such as login control only -see http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/... for details

Hi Cathal, that's ok, but it does not solve the url issue.

the returnulr is necessary to return the user to the page they originally requested (that they were not logged in for) - that said we could add a nofollow to the links if that would help SEO. Feel free to log it as an enhancement request to support.dnnsoftware.com

That could be an idea. In the meantime and otherwise, in many cases one could simply remove the object altogether from the skin and force registered users to use the /login.aspx url. After all, few CMS offer the login link openly. Or do you see major drawbacks for that?
