Hello,

I've been trying to implement bootstrap in our main skin... for the most part, it's been good.

The problem I'm having is I use a traditional three column layout that's roughly 200 | 600 | 200. Sometimes, a column is empty. When it is, in my old skin, I have the 600 just fill the space.

With bootstrap's grid system, you can't really have an empty grid cell. They all seem to recommend having the code laying out the page just not create that column. But, I'm not sure how to do that in DNN. Presumably I could write a class to inherit the base skin class, but that seems messy and people recommend not doing it.

Does anybody have any recommendations or hints on how to handle this?

Thanks,

Mike

I would create "skins" that have 1 two or three columns that look the way you want them to look - and use the appropriate skin for the content that you have.

Thanks Charles, that's an interesting idea... simple but useful.

Another quick thought I had was a custom skin object. I wonder if I could make one where I set the classes it should apply to which containers based on various contexts and then have it apply them. Maybe that's more trouble than it's worth though.

Not sure what your exact question is but did you notice that an empty pane has a class?

You can use it to set it to display:none on them if needed..
