I'm currently trying to localize a Portal into German and English.
Core localization works fine, it does what is should do.

If i now switch on the 'advanced' URL Settings within web.config the ISO Part of the URL disapears.

Example with standard 'humanfriendly' URL: http://www.portal.eu/de-de/page1.aspx
Example with standard 'advanced' URL:  http://www.portal.eu/page1

There is no language distinction anymore at all.
This leads, of course, to problems if you have pages in your Portal with the same name in all Languages (i.E. Home, Start, Splashpage etc.)

I assume i'm doing something wrong...any hints on this?

Sebastian already tried to explain this to me, but i didn't get it to work :-(

Best

Frank

you would need different (default) website aliases per language - either http://www.portal.com and http://www.portal.de or http://www.portal.com/en and http://www.portal/de. See language specification in Site Settings > Site aliases
