Apparently, the DNNFilePicker control stores the entire site folder structure in viewstate. Makes for some massive payload sizes. I have a page with some file upload control and the viewstate size alone is over 800 kB. If your site has a lot of folders (like any site that has a decent number of user accounts or file directories) be careful about using these controls, especially multiple ones. Every folder under the portal folder is included in the viewstate, including skins.

Does anyone know of a decent alternative to the DNNFilePicker control? One that is not dependent on bloated Telerik controls?

Or does anyone know of a way to limit the filepicker to only recognize a certain folder? You can set the filepath as an option in the control and set some show options, but it still doesn't exclude those in the viewstate. Also, is there a way for DNN to NOT create 3 folders for each user? Seems like a total waste: Users\003\03\3
