I have a DNN Community 7.0.6 site with SMTP configured correctly.

Everyday I get numerous Password Sent Failure entries in my Event Viewer for the site, but also many Password Sent Success as well.

The ones that fail all have valid email addresses, and are not used for more than one account. I also made a test user with a new address just to be sure, and I get a failure on that as well. The only details in the Event Viewer are:

Cause: If you entered a valid email you'll receive an email shortly confirming your account details.

No rhyme or reason I can find as to why some password retrievals work, and others do not.

It could be a corrupted user profile. It could also be an issue with your SMTP gateway rejecting a specific recipient. Might check to see if there is any common domain names etc.

This was due to a corrupted user profiles, and we will be able to get around it by requiring unique email which added the email address and user name fields to the forgotten password page.
