I'm on dnn platform 7.0.4. The only change since my last successful login is upgrading the FaQ module.

Error details from admin event log:

I don't know why that might cause an issue, the message may be a red herring (i.e. an exception earlier is bubbling up) - try setting the log4net configuration to All to see if it captures anything else (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Page/log4net-In-DotNetNuke). Also, can you log in with another user or is the issue only with the host user?

this is for sure not caused by FAQ module, most likely, there is a user profile containing invalid data.

Thanks Cathal, no issues with other users just the built in "host" account, the problem is I can't upload blogs via Windows Live Writer because of this.. here's the log4net details:

do you mean you can't use the host account or all accounts cause the problem with windows live writer?
