I have downloaded latest version of dotnetnuke (7.0.6) with the community edition and followed below steps:

  • I have put the source code at D:\......\DotNetNukeDemo\DotNetNuke_Community_07.00.06_Source(1).
  • I opened project in VS 2012, run it and installed the site using install wizard of dotnetnuke.
  • Created a site in IIS with dnndev.me pointing to D:\......\DotNetNukeDemo\DotNetNuke_Community_07.00.06_Source(1)/website.
  • Run the site and everything seems to be fine. I have also modified the skin and their controls and everything is working fine.

Now, I wanted to implement custom module for which I followed below steps:

  • Installed Visual Studio Templates for DotNetNuke from Nuget.
  • Created a project using "DotNetNuke 7 C# Compiled Module" with location "D:\....\DotNetNukeDemo\DotNetNuke_Community_07.00.06_Source(1)\website\DesktopModules" and created successfully
  • I build the project and it got successfully build and I tried to build it in release mode and I got following error:

Error    2    The "MSBuild.Community.Tasks.XmlRead" task could not be loaded from the assembly D:\.....\DotNetNukeDemo\DotNetNuke_Community_07.00.06_Source%281%29\website\DesktopModules\MyTestingDNNCompiledModule\\packages\MSBuildTasks.1.4.0.61\tools\MSBuild.Community.Tasks.dll. Could not load file or assembly 'file:///D:\......\DotNetNukeDemo\DotNetNuke_Community_07.00.06_Source%281%29\website\DesktopModules\MyTestingDNNCompiledModule\packages\MSBuildTasks.1.4.0.61\tools\MSBuild.Community.Tasks.dll' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Confirm that the <UsingTask> declaration is correct, that the assembly and all its dependencies are available, and that the task contains a public class that implements Microsoft.Build.Framework.ITask.    MyTestingDNNCompiledModule

I googled this error and tried with each possible solution to resolve this error and still I am not able to create package for this module.

I also tried to NANT packaging tool, but still I received build error in release mode.

Please guide me to proceed with the development.

 Thanks,

John Smith

I'd recommend using Christoc's DotNetNuke Module Development Template (http://christoctemplate.codeplex.com).
