Hi All.  A 100% newbie to DNN so hopefully you'll forgive me for asking stupid questions.

First I should explain that this would be the second time I'm installing DNN Community Edition 5.06.01.  The first time it went well but then I decided to add the Freestype skin which gave me an error and it went down hill from there.

I then decided to start from scratch by deleting the web app and database.  Going through the process, I get to Run Database Installation Scripts and get the following errors.  I've done this twice following the webinar on the website as I did the first time.  If anyone can tell me what I've screwed up and how to resolve the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Upgrading Database to Version 05.06.01...FAILURE ERROR: Error: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1).

Haven't seen this one in a while, however it's a known exception caused by an incorrect configuration on the webserver. When DotNetNuke begins it imports various templates to create sites - this code uses xmlserialization. When using xmlserialization asp.net will create temporary assemblies in the %TEMP% location (which is c:\windows\temp by default). If the site that the website is running under (i.e. the user assigned to the application pool ) does not have permissions you can see this issue, so please check your user permissions . MS have a page on this at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa302290.aspx

Wow ... I have no idea what you're talking about :) ... way over my head but I made sure the DefaultAppPool user was assigned to the C:\windows\temp folder and it had write permission. I then deleted the data base through ssms as well as the application through IIS manager then reinstalled everything and it worked :) Thank you Cathal!! I almost gave up and was going to reformat my machine. Not sure why this problem occurs on the second install and not the first. You would think the user permission on the temp folder would not change and if it did, how was it changed. A real mystery ...
