Hi.

On our new 9.1 Install we have a problem when we have added the User Module to one of our pages so we can allow members of a user group to administer users.

We used to have this okay on earlier versions but now I am getting the below error :

Error: Security Roles is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: The file '/DesktopModules/Admin/Security/Roles.ascx' does not exist. ---> System.Web.HttpException: The file '/DesktopModules/Admin/Security/Roles.ascx' does not exist. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile, Boolean throwIfNotFound, Boolean ensureIsUpToDate) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile, Boolean throwIfNotFound, Boolean ensureIsUpToDate) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResult(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile, Boolean ensureIsUpToDate) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlUtilities.LoadControl[T](TemplateControl containerControl, StringAppre ControlSrc) at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.WebFormsModuleControlFactory.CreateModuleControl(TemplateControl containerControl, ModuleInfo moduleConfiguration) at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ModuleControlFactory.LoadModuleControl(TemplateControl containerControl, ModuleInfo moduleConfiguration) at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ModuleHost.LoadModuleControl() --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

As per the error the file is not present.

Are we able to allow a role to add users now when we don't want them to have Site Admin access with DNN 9.1 ?

Appreciate any help on this.

Jacqui.

the file should be present, most likely you forgot to unblock the downloaded upgrade package (in file properties) prior to unzipping the files contained.
redo, copy all of the files over your existing ones and browse /install/install.aspx?mode=installresources

Hi Sebastian.
Many thanks for your help here but no the roles.ascx is not there and not in the source code either. It isn't in the 9.0 version I have running either but as I don't need the user admin functionality for others I haven's had a problem there.
I enabled the Users and Roles module and after adding that to a page got that error.
One option I did was take the roles.ascx from an older version of DNN just to see but that had a lot of issues as it references the telerik controls/grid etc so that didn't work.

sorry, I forgot that all admin modules (including user and roles module) are no longer supported in DNN 9 and should have been removed during upgrade.
For some reason, this didn't apply o your DNN.

Hi,
This was a fresh install.
Can you tell me is there another way of allowing a certain user group the ability to add/edit users without having to grant them full admin access to the site ?
The two ways I used to allow this (dnn_connect module and this way) no longer are an option.
I am reluctant to give admin access to everyone in the group.
Jacqui.
